    Connie Willemsen
    Treasurer

Connie is a Colorado native who found her love of cars through marriage. Born and raised in Denver, Connie grew up enjoying the outdoors and developed a passion for sports and a playful, competitive, spirit that would last her a lifetime. She met her husband, David, as ski instructors in the 1960s, when he already owned and raced a 1962 Lotus 7 original. It didn’t take long for Connie to become an auto enthusiast herself, eventually buying a 1981 DeLorean. Connie still owns both vehicles and enjoys serving on the board as a way to honor and carry on David’s love of classic cars since his passing in 2017.

    Ron Kirkham
    Director

Ron is a car guy from birth. His Dad was the Business Manager for several auto dealerships. As a child he could often be found in the service area watching, questioning and pestering the mechanics to show him what they were working on. These learning sessions, and the shiny new vehicles on the showroom floor gave him an early introduction to the wonderful world of cars. After moving to Vail to pursue a career in architecture, Ron became interested in performance ice driving and has attended numerous events at the Bridgestone Winter Driving School in Steamboat Springs, CO with a group of spirited Audi enthusiasts. In addition to cars, Ron has owned many motorcycles and 4x4’s. He currently owns two Audi URS cars that have given him endless smiles, especially while drifting corners in snow! Ron is happy to combine his love of all things with a motor and the charitable giving that the Vail Automotive Classic embodies.

    Mike Thul
    Director

Mike is a western Colorado native who moved to Vail to ski for a year after college before getting a real job. His early years as a car enthusiast were rekindled when he learned of a friend selling a Corvette ZR1, and was surprised when his wife let him purchase it in 1999. Since that time, he has moved on to Audis that seem better suited to the Vail Valley. Mike has participated in track events on snow, ice, and asphalt, including several years of spec racing with the National AutoSport Association(NASA). He never got the real job but has been fortunate to own Xssentials, a home electronics company serving customers in Vail, Aspen, Denver, and Jackson Hole. He participated in the Vail Automotive Classic since the beginning and is pleased to join the leadership.
